"O" (masc. article); Portuguese uses articles even with possessives.
no fim de semana	on the weekend	No fim de semana eu durmo até tarde. On the weekend I sleep in.
"No" = em + o (in the, masc.); Portuguese always contracts em + article.
dia a dia	day by day / daily life	O dia a dia é sempre corrido. Daily life is always hectic.
Fixed expression. "Corrido" = busy/hectic (colloquial).
de vez em quando	from time to time	De vez em quando eu peço comida. From time to time I order food.
Fixed adverbial expression for infrequent actions.
ao mesmo tempo	at the same time	Eu cozinho e ouço música ao mesmo tempo. I cook and listen to music at the same time.
"Ao" = a + o contraction. Fixed temporal expression.
pouco a pouco	little by little	Pouco a pouco eu melhoro a minha rotina. Little by little I improve my routine.
Fixed adverbial expression showing gradual progress.
demorar	to take time / to be late	Eu demoro uma hora para chegar ao trabalho. It takes me an hour to get to work.
-ar verb. "Demorar" + time = to take (duration). "Para" + infinitive.
manter	to keep / to maintain	Eu mantenho uma rotina organizada. I keep an organized routine.
Irregular verb: mantenho (1st person). Conjugates like "ter."
costumer	to be used to / to usually do	Eu costumo almoçar ao meio-dia. I usually have lunch at noon.
"Costumar" + infinitive = to usually do. Habitual action.
combinar	to arrange / to agree on	Eu combinei de jantar com amigos. I arranged to have dinner with friends.
-ar verb. "Combinar de" + infinitive = to arrange to do something.
economizar	to save (money/time)	Eu economizo tempo usando o metrô. I save time by using the subway.
-ar verb. Gerund "usando" = by using (manner/means).
praticar	to practice	Eu pratico exercício três vezes por semana. I practice exercise three times a week.
-ar verb. "Por" = per/each in frequency expressions.
relaxar	to relax	Eu relaxo ouvindo música à noite. I relax by listening to music at night.
-ar verb. Gerund "ouvindo" = by listening (simultaneous action).
aproveitar	to make the most of / to enjoy	Eu aproveito o tempo livre para ler. I make the most of my free time to read.
-ar verb. "Para" + infinitive = in order to.
adiantar	to bring forward / to advance	Eu adiantei o trabalho na segunda-feira. I got ahead on work on Monday.
-ar verb. Preterite: adiantei. "Na" = em + a (in the, on).
semanal	weekly	Eu faço a compra semanal no sábado. I do the weekly shopping on Saturday.

diário	daily	A caminhada diária me faz bem. The daily walk does me good.

noturno	night / nocturnal	Ele trabalha no turno noturno. He works the night shift.

agitado	hectic / busy	A minha semana foi muito agitada. My week was very hectic.

tranquilo	calm / peaceful	O domingo foi tranquilo. Sunday was peaceful.
Adjective agrees in gender: tranquilo (m.) / tranquila (f.).
produtivo	productive	Hoje foi um dia bem produtivo. Today was a very productive day.
Adjective agrees in gender: produtivo (m.) / produtiva (f.).
flexível	flexible	O meu horário de trabalho é flexível. My work schedule is flexible.
Adjective (-vel). Same for masc/fem. Plural: -vel becomes -veis.
na maioria das vezes	most of the time	Na maioria das vezes eu cozinho em casa. Most of the time I cook at home.
"Na" = em + a. "Das" = de + as. Fixed frequency expression.
em seguida	then / next	Eu tomo café e em seguida saio de casa. I have coffee and then I leave the house.
Fixed sequence expression used to describe routine steps.
de manhã cedo	early in the morning	De manhã cedo eu faço exercício. Early in the morning I exercise.
"De manhã" = in the morning. "Cedo" = early. Fixed time expression.
antes de mais nada	first of all / above all	Antes de mais nada, eu tomo um copo de água. First of all, I have a glass of water.
Fixed expression for sequencing actions. "Antes de" = before.
se acostumar	to get used to	Eu me acostumei com a nova rotina. I got used to the new routine.
Reflexive verb. "Acostumar-se com" = to get used to.
cumprir	to fulfill / to complete	Eu preciso cumprir todas as tarefas do dia. I need to complete all the tasks of the day.
-ir verb. "Precisar" + infinitive = to need to.
revisar	to review	Eu reviso os e-mails antes de dormir. I review the emails before going to bed.
-ar verb. "Antes de" + infinitive = before doing something.
rotineiro	routine / monotonous	O trabalho é rotineiro, mas estável. The work is monotonous but stable.
Adjective agrees in gender: rotineiro (m.) / rotineira (f.).
intenso	intense	A semana foi intensa e cansativa. The week was intense and tiring.
Adjective agrees in gender: intenso (m.) / intensa (f.).
logo cedo	very early / first thing	Logo cedo eu vou à academia. Very early I go to the gym.
Fixed adverbial expression. "À" = a + a (to the, fem.).
o compromisso	the appointment / commitment	Eu tenho um compromisso às três. I have an appointment at three.
Masculine noun (o). "Às" = a + as (at, for time).
